The Red Lion started life 250 years ago as a farm, which then became a way station for the drovers from Weardale on the way to Bishop Auckland market.
Now owned and managed by Keith and Carole Young, who specialise in serving up superb food in their lovely restaurant. Serving from light lunches to A la Carte meals on an evening.
The pub is warm and friendly and revered by locals for the good beer, serving four real ales, which are mentioned in the Camra good beer guide and the good pub guide.
With a combined experience of 20 years plus in the trade, you can be sure of a great evening with your hosts, with friendly efficient service from a highly dedicated team, comprising of Christine in the kitchen and waitresses headed by Christine.
